My therapeutic offerings are rooted in the belief that every individual intuitively initiates a process of self-exploration and self-expression from birth. Sometimes this wisdom gets thwarted or stuck due to familial, social, situational and/or societal conditions and experiences.

I believe that given the opportunity, and rooted in a foundation of empowering connection, individuals can come to align with their unique self and expressions again.

My intention in each session is to hold a brave, compassionate, mindful space that allows individuals to use the tools of creativity, metaphor, and the body. These tools coupled with an attitude of curiosity has been potent medicine in both my personal and professional work.

*Sessions may include: grounding, talk therapy, non-directive and/or directive invitations into art making, play, mindfulness, guided visualization, movement and/or body sensation exploration.

Clients may use art materials (pencils, paints, pastels, textiles, etc.) to help sense into and relate with their experience. The art provides an external container for individuals to process and reflect on their internal sensations, emotions and narratives.

Art Therapy is suitable for a range of ages and abilities. No previous art experience is necessary.

The process of creation is the focus, not the product.

AREAS OF FOCUS:

  • Creativity & self-expression

  • Nervous system understanding, regulation & brain injury recovery

  • Stress management and resourcing

  • Identity exploration, self-awareness and reflection

  • Anxiety or depression (up states or down states)

  • Life transitions, navigating grief & loss

Collaborative, client centred approach

Trauma-informed practices

My clients have included children and youth who have witnessed/experienced abuse, women, caregivers, long-term care residents, and clients navigating life with trauma or chronic illness.

Opportunities for healing are embedded into the human experience. We have a wisdom in how we each move through life and experience tragedies, loss, transformations and sufferings. I have wadded through those water myself, walking the long path of returning to my life after a car accident and head trauma. I have navigated anxieties and low points, grief, isolation, overwhelm, and continue to learn and flow with and through all that life has to offer.

I have witnessed how resilient we humans can be. We are all a work in progress, and we can find witness and respite in a supportive relationship.

Group Offerings

Expression Through Matrescence

This offering inspired by Alexandra Sacks’s article “The Birth of a Mother” and her Ted Talk in which she considers Matrescence “a developmental transition that is hormonal, physical and emotional.”

This offering is for you if:

• You are a soon to be (> 4 months pregnant) and/or a fresh new momma (<1 year postpartum).

• You yearn for intentional time and space to explore your transitional grapplings

• You want to be known in your evolving identity, even if you don’t have all the words.

• You are willing to be guided to utilize the creative process and use creative tools without focus on a finished product.

• You are open to being among a collective of other mommas with whom you can land in the moment, in your body, and be witnessed.

*1.5 hours in duration. Small group size, max 6 people.

Release, Rip, Recreate

One of my favourite practices to let go and re-imagine!

This offering allows us to put down the things that no longer serve us and creatively engage in building a new experience for ourselves.

General structure for our time together:

  • Welcome, orientating, check-in, landing, grounding (slowing down, breathing, moving energy)

  • Invitation into art making - where your impulses take the lead!

  • Pause, process, share

  • Invitation into deconstructing, re-working art creation - where deeper grappling and reimagining may occur.

  • Sharing circle, group closing and goodbyes

2 hours in duration. Delivered online. Small group, max 6 people.

Metaforay: Contemplative & Creative Nature Experience

Metaforay is a walk in nature and into the magic of presence. This offering is inspired by a love of nature, mindfulness, creative self-expression and community.

This 90 minute offering includes:
- Welcome walk
- Guided meditation
- Silent contemplative walk
- Creative expression and/or writing reflection
- Sharing circle with tea

We will be walking through the tress, on uneven surfaces, uphill and downhill at times, so I invite you to please wear supportive footwear.

The group will run regardless of weather, and we will be sitting and moving, so I also invite you to choose clothing that is comfortable, breathable and waterproof as needed.

Basic art materials provided. Feel free to bring your own journal/sketch book. Tea will also be provided.

Pod Chats: Podcast Club

Podcasts are all the rage! People are listening, laughing & learning. Let's do just that in community. Exploring ideas, together!

My intention is create a gathering that stimulates our hearts & minds, encourages self-expression and reflection and facilitates nourishing conversations.

I will hold a loose frame for the evening. We will start with introductions and check ins, get cozy (with snacks, drinks, doodle papers, puzzles, knitting or stitching in hand if you so wish) and dive into listening, together. It is suggested to not listen prior to the event, as part of the intention is to have a novel experience together. If you prefer to pre-listen, that still works, and if you do please bring your thoughts to share.

Event will be divided into a 30 minute listen, then chat & 30 minute listen, then chat, before closing out the evening. At this point, it will be facilitated on Zoom, hopefully, eventually, in person, outside or in a cozy spot!

Podcasts will be, on average, 1 hour long. If you have podcast suggestions, please send me an email.
